How do I take advantage of the University’s Open Access Policy?

Answer

There are a couple of ways to take advantage of UAlbany’s Open Access Policy

  1. You can share the accepted manuscript version of your work in an open access repository of your choosing (e.g., arXiv, SocArXiv).

  1. You can share the accepted manuscript version of your work in the University’s open access repository, Scholars Archive

If you take the latter path, and you’ve not already done so, you will need to complete the Assistance Authorization Form, which gives the Libraries permission to make deposits on your behalf into Scholars Archive. You only need to complete this form once.

Then, you can deposit your work to Scholars Archive. To do so:

  1. Create an account at Scholars Archive and log in.

  1. Select Submit Research from the Authors Corner in the left-hand-side nav bar.

  1. Find and select your affiliated School/College/Department.

  1. Read and accept the submission agreement.

  1. Provide the required metadata about yourself (and your coauthors) and your work.

  1. Upload the accepted manuscript version of your work and any associated files.

  1. Submit.

The Scholarly Communication Team will review your submission before it is available in Scholars Archive. And we're always happy to hop on Zoom to walk through this process with you. Just get in touch; we’re here to help!
