How do I cite AI-generated content in scholarly research?

Before you begin scholarly research, verify if and how you are allowed to use generative AI in your work. If AI-generated content is permitted, then you must appropriately cite the AI-generated content in your work according to the instructor’s or publisher’s guidance, following the appropriate citation style. 

As generative AI tools continue to evolve, citation templates will continue to change, so it is a good idea to confirm citation guidelines at each use. You can do so by looking under the appropriate citation guide’s Internet sources > Generative AI guidance.
