A professor asked if s/he could use streaming content in their online course this coming fall.

Answer

Most streaming services have terms of use that do not allow a personal account holder to redistribute content. Zoom does not allow users to share copyrighted materials using their platform. I recommend searching for media content, such as films, in UAL databases such as AVON or Kanopy. Students can be directed to use their own media accounts on Netflix and other sites (cheaper than a textbook). Use should be only limited to the amount needed to make your point, access limited to students only with no downloading permitted, and if still protected by copyright students need to be informed of this and told not to redistribute.
