I own a book that I want to scan content from for my online course. How much can I use and still respect copyright law?

Answer

Link to the University Libraries' resource page, Reserves for Faculty, for instructions for adding either physical items or e-resources to your Reserves. E-resources can be linked directly to your courses in Blackboard. For items still protected under copyright law the rule of thumb is 10% of a book volume is the maximum that should be copied and distributed. Please add a copyright notice telling your students that the material is protected.
