We are currently unable to accept book donations (gifts in kind).  This excludes donations of special collections and rare books.  Exceptions may be made in special circumstances with the approval of the Director of Collections or Dean of the Libraries.

Book donation bins are located in the Campus Center near the Bookstore. The bins are operated by Books For Life, with proceeds from the sale of donated books returned to the University at Albany in support of the Senior Class Gift each year.

The following local organizations accept book donations.  Please visit their websites for more information.

  • The Bulk Book Warehouse in Rotterdam offers drop boxes in Rotterdam, Guilderland, Latham and Saratoga Springs, as well as scheduled pickups.

  • Grassroot Givers in Albany accepts new or beautiful like-new children’s books.
